Stopping By

Just stopping by to check on my Talent Network. There are more members here every time I click around and I think I could waste all day with the movies now. I love the RecruiterGuy for President video. Put some Hooters Girls on here and he' will get my vote for sure. Work is busier than ever and normally I am not so swamped this time of year. Lucky I guess. Glad to see so many on here but gots to go! Chao, Everyone! site says that is Vietnamese but I thought it was Spanish or French. LOL.

Gone but I didn't forget

Just stopped in to see what had been going on as I head to work this morning and there are so many new people on here - and maybe I have a crush on a new musicphile here. I'm sort of looking for a excuse to get to LA anyhow. (j/k) I don't have much time to make a journal entry this morning except to say that business is crazy for me this time of year so I am pretty tied up most of the day. I hope to get more time in the evenings but we'll see how it goes right now I go where the money is. Okay… Continue

been gone all week

it has been a busy week and I'm heading out to get some weekend work done. I think I'm going to Vegas in a few weeks when my sisters kids are out of school so I need to get as many installations and side jobs done as I can so I will have the money to do a little gambling while I am there. Nothing much going on this week except all of the work I have been doing. Tomorrow will be the day that I take a break. I like Sundays as my day or rest.

Moving Around AGAIN

My sister is pushing me to enter more diary like things on this page and to be honest to talk to more recruiter types since I got help so fast last week. Thanks to the people on here. So I figure with her pushing me so hard to type more that I would just take a minute before heading out this morning to talk about why she has to move around so much. I don't mind her moving but man I really hate that it is never far away. I don't mean that the way it sounds it's just that she keeps moving about 1… Continue

Well if RecruiterGuy is Going to Blog...

:) Thanks go to RecruiterGuy for helping me to get the news feeds of my favorite team to show up here on my blog. Now I need to figure ut how to get a good picture of my team up top too. I am liking this so far but still don't have any tickets so who will give me tickets?! (j/k) Yesterday I worked pretty late doing some cable work and the people were really nice. It was an older couple and something had just gotten a hold of the wiring and ripped it all loose. I would have been out of there muc… Continue

Hey, thanks for the comment. VH & STP are total faves! Florida is a great place to be...I used to travel to Ft. Lauderdale & Boca Raton for work quite a bit (until we moved our Corp Headquarters to Atlanta!). I'm definitely a Cali girl though. :)

Mike - this is the exact same thing we were talking about in terms of why you might (or might not) want two resumes. Remember - two is great if you're targetting two very different pursuits as you seemed to be interested in - much like someone wanting to provide a resume specific to their IT work for an IT job vs. their Customer Service for a Customer Service job. Not everyone will need two - but there are occasions where it makes sense.

I'm not the only resource available to you here (and by no means a guru.) I'd encourage you to take advantage of Wendy's offer as well. Never turn down another set of eyes - especially those that are willing to look! :-)

I can't make a call on the "more than one" issue without knowing the diversity of the jobs you are considering. I always opt for one version if at all possible, but sometimes more than one is called for dependent upon how different the jobs are.

In your situation, you want to appeal to both commercial and contracting industries. I've happily married these two pursuits for candidates so that one resume works well for both. It cuts down on your job search work tremendously. Again, to provide a solid answer to you on this, I would need to take a look at your document versus what your goals are.

Hope this helps!

Hi Mike,

Yes, send your resume to me at wendy@trendresumes.com with the information you have in the comment I received. In reading your page here it seems as if you have two seperate schools of thought - starting your own contracting business or working for a bigger company. Each of those interests would involve a slightly different variation of your resume which I will explain with my review.

Good luck with those Gator tickets!

WOW, you truly surprised me. First time anyone has made reference to "my father" :-). I've just always liked the books and use the name on public forums such as these. Real name is David and I'm in Miami. I believe you're north of me, but not quite sure how north. Where is lake city?
