My Talent Network

A new home for casual career networking and advice.

Razume.comIt's Monday... and on Monday's what word gets thrown around more than "sucks" - I've never heard of one. So in the spirit of taking a Monday head on, I thought I'd take on a topic that both recruiters and job seekers hate. Poorly written resumes. Oh yeah... I'm going there.
But I'm not going alone.
While there are many great sites out there that will offer up resume tips and interviewing advice (*cough* MyTalentNetwork.com *cough*) for job seekers, there aren't too many that will flat out review (and even rank!) a resume - for free. Enter: Razume.

Razume is an online portal that allows you to search and review over 7 million job postings, research companies and positions posted, and soon to apply for jobs found there. But wait! It's not just a job board in the making - it's a Resume machine. What sets Razume apart from others is that you have the ability to post your resume (anonymously) and receive some pretty constructive criticism and rankings. You'll also be allowed to view thousands of other resumes for tips and hints on how to get your resume in tip-top shape. One of my favorite features is the ability to search through posted resumes and sort by highest ranked or most reviewed - there's not a better way to look at preferred formats and content presentation.

Think you've already got the resume of a Rock Star? Let's find out, shall we?
Put your resume to the test and find out how recruiters, experts, and even peers in your industry think it stacks up. Consider this a RecruiterGuy challenge... I'd like to challenge each reader to upload their resume and share the outcome should they get ranked. Keep your resume anonymous and don't feel obliged to share it directly here - I'd just like to hear if anyone gets the score they think they deserve.
Once you've posted that 'powerhouse profile' of yours you can request anyone to review it by simply using the "send to a friend" form. Don't be shy - if you feel that someone can provide solid feedback to that resume then send out the request. These go out anonymously and can be sent to your mentors, coworkers, recruiters, and anyone you feel might be an industry professional. If you'd rather not send it to anyone you know, that's fine too. Just throw a request out to the Razume community. That's what it's there for, right?
After you've got that resume uploaded then click on over to the 'Search Jobs' page where you can perform searches that will eventually result in Razume's ability to suggest jobs based on your interests and location.

This free resource is a 'must have' for anyone trying to get an edge on their competition in an already tough market.
Recruiters - enjoy the ability to network with those looking to increase visibility in their market of choice and taking the initiative to use this beta tool. From the look of things, planned features will be geared towards making more personal connections between strong resumes and companies looking to fill jobs.
Hopefully this dials down the "suck" of your Monday (and your resume?) a bit. Yeah, I know it's not a list of great YouTube videos to burn your day up with, but I've got to at least keep things relative to the site topic, right?
