Bumped into an article by Debra Feldman, a.k.a. the JobWhiz, in which she claims to have found a more effective method for generating job offers by applying simple marketing techniques. Feldman basically states that you can treat your job search just as you would a marketing project in which the product is you - the candidate.
Feldman says that in order to develop the “right” job search approach you must choose the right focus aided by following six job search implementation skills (Feldman six…

Just read an article indicating that the Department of Labor will provide over 16,000 veterans with access to job training and other employment resources. Funds will be awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies and nonprofit organizations, including faith-based and community organizations.
The initiative provides support to two programs:
a) The Homeless Veterans Reintegration program (HVRP) which focuses on providing homeless veterans w…

In the past several years I have had a few members of my family go through cancer “scares”. One of them had to have a hysterectomy and a mastectomy performed, plus go through a whole year of treatment. Needless to say, these kinds of situations are NOT easy to endure by any stretch of the imagination and their after effects are long lasting not only for the patient but also to their family.
Today, one of my family members had - yet again - to undergo another battery of tests. We are told that s…

Just returned from a three day vacation to Universal Orlando Resort. I took three of the kids with me and I can honestly say that we had a great time. What I love about that place is that there is something for everyone to do. Does not matter how young or old you are, you can…

I just spotted these rules on a couple of online publications.
Debrett’s (modern authority on all matters dealing with etiquette, taste and achievement) has come up with 5 basic rules of etiquette when dealing with social networking. These “Golden Rules” cover three areas:
Making/keeping friends:
1. Not everyone in your social network has to be your friend, especially if you don’t know them.
2. Think before you accept or remove someone as…

Do you remember when you were a kid, what you thought the future would be like? Look like?
I remember when - as a kid – I would watch futuristic movies, with cool looking buildings, furnishings, cars, boats, planes, etc, where every…

I just had a friend share some interesting info on plastic bags… Plastic shopping bags are made from polyethylene: a thermoplastic made from oil. Did you know that it seems that somewhere between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year and that less tha…

Just finished watching a video which has been recently circulating the net of a poor chap who totally lost it at work. The incident was caught by security cameras as well as filmed by co-workers. The guy went on a rampage, hurling equipment across the room, and breaking anything/everything on his path until he was stopped by security. Thankfully no one was severely hurt. I could not help but wonder what causes a person to “loose it” to such a degree.
I think that in the world we live today thin…

Okay… After much hoopla, SATC finally premiered last week. I have to say that I really had very little interest in seeing this film, but having four females in my family I had to face up to the fact that I was not going to be able to avoid seeing it. So, last weekend amid strong objections o…

I have been reading lately a lot of articles dealing with people trying to figure out what line of work fits their personality best. Even folks that are already retired or approaching retirement seem to be pondering the question. But I have to wonder… can EVERYBODY find a career that they really love and that will allow them to support their families and current lifestyles?
It seems to me that folks entering the workforce for the first time would have a greater chance of achieving this than say…

I currently have a Treo 650 which I have been wanting to replace but had not yet found a device that could actually do as much and in the same fashion (except - of course - for another Treo). I wanted something different; something with a bigger screen, something that looked "cooler" and then I saw the IPhone. I was soooo ready to purchase one when it was first released last year, but after reading some of the reviews and comparing it's features with that of my Treo, I decided to wait until the…
