I'm a sucker for a good charity and even more so when helping that charity comes with a good time. On Saturday March 7th I'll be taking part in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids' Sake 2009 event in Dallas, TX.

A dozen or so days ago I posted a quick article that talked about Google's Friend Connect and issued a bit of a challenge in the form of a drawing to use the new feature.… Continue

I have two cars - one that I'm passionate about (1981 Fiat Spider Turbo - MINT) and a SUV. The Italian love affair only comes out of the garage on special occasions (under 100k miles on original engine) and the SUV is the daily driver. As a result the SUV needed new tires recently and I wanted some time with my youngest daughter - so on Saturday we made a day of it, dropping off the car and sporting our backpacks d… Continue

List building... what a concept. Last week I issued a challenge for the month of October. The challenge was to get involved in a social network - to create dialogue and interact - and see what happens. Based on a few emails (and a voicemail!) that I received this week I suspect that what I may have… Continue

Hey, didn't I just chat with you about that job? No? Hmmm, it must have been some other web savvy job seeker looking for a way to connect directly with employers for real-time Q&A or updates. Added by RecruiterGuy on September 16, 2008 at 7:43am — No Comments
So you say you've got a strong network, huh? You say that you've 900 friends on MySpace and that your Facebook cup runneth over? You're boasting that your LinkedIn profile now carries that fancy little +500 icon and that you're networker to be reckoned with? Gosh, that's great for you.

Did you know that today is the 45th anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech that was delivered at the March on Washington D.C.? Did you also know that tonight in Denver Senator Barack Obama will be the first African American to be nominated to be President of the United States by a major political party? Awesome, to say the least, I'd say.

There are so many options available to job seekers when the job hunt begins that it can be pretty scary to anyone just getting back into the swing of things - and hoping to not swing for too long. Is it okay to just post a resume on this board or should I use that board? Should I try and fi

A few weeks ago I was excited to share a video that I was proud to be part of. It did (and continues to do) a great job at explaining to potential job seekers what occurs in the 'day in the life of' a

Every so often I get an email or comment posted on my RecruiterGuy blog that strikes a chord with me. This weekend was no exception. I received two, however - both with ultimately the same message, "Thanks for hearing me."

Right around July 24th jobs started heading to a new board - a board where job descriptions are only allowed to be 142 characters or less. So in a world where employers are complaining that job boards don't typically give them enough fr

I’ve heard it said that branding is all about getting yourself noticed. I’d tend to disagree – at least I’d tend to disagree today. It’s my opinion that personal branding only begins with getting noticed. If done right, personal branding efforts (for employmen… Continue
