Have you ever been laid off or experienced a job ending unexpectedly? If not, I am guessing you may have friends or family who have faced this challenge. Either way, I think we all can all be prepared for the unexpected. There are TONS of valuable resources and tips out there on this topic, some of which I would like to share in future weeks. Abby Some Basic Phone Interview Tips

Happy Labor Day MTN Peoples! I'm kicking off my Monday blogging tips here with some ideas around phone interviews. Some people think that phone interviews are easier than if you had to go in person. Usually this is because they aren't as nervous on the phone and can take the interview in the comfort of their own pajamas. Others think that phone interviews are more difficult because they don't feel they can sell themselves effectively over the telephone. I personally would prefer to be able to… Continue

RecruiterGuy 45th Anniversary of 'I Have A Dream'...

Did you know that today is the 45th anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech that was delivered at the March on Washington D.C.? Awesome, to say the least, I'd say. This post isn'… Continue

Kristine WHAT NOW Wednesdays

Hello all! I decided to start dropping in on Wednesdays to share thoughts on topics relating to “WHAT NOW?” for job seekers. As both passive and active job seekers, I think we all face this question at times throughout our careers. You might be graduating from school, laid off, relocating or happy where you are for now…. We all have stories to share and I would love to hear yours and get any suggestions you have on topics. I thought I would start by sharing my story and why I’m here. I have al… Continue

Razume.comIt's Monday... and on Monday's what word gets thrown around more than "sucks" - I've never heard of one. So in the spirit of taking a Monday head on, I thought I'd take on a topic that both recruiters and job seekers hate. Poorly written resumes.… Continue

Abby Hi. I'm Abby. And I'm a MTN Staff Member.

Hi. My name is Abby and I've been in the recruiting and HR biz for lots of years. :-) Chris (RecruiterGuy) and I go way, way, way wayyyy back. When he called and asked if I'd be interested in helping to prepare active and passive job seekers for their perfect job I told him he was nuts. Then I started in on him for not calling me in a few years and letting me know how his little family is doing. Paul Atredy Ovarian cancer.... not easy to diagnose

In the past several years I have had a few members of my family go through cancer “scares”. One of them had to have a hysterectomy and a mastectomy performed, plus go through a whole year of treatment. Needless to say, these kinds of situations are NOT easy to endure by any stretch of the imagination and their after effects are long lasting not only for the patient but also to their family. Kristine Getting the word out to our future workforce on technology careers

Since viewing Recruiterguy’s video on Future Workforce Solutions, I have been trying to come up with ideas on what we can do to help get the word out. You should check out the video if you haven’t already:-)! I just spotted these rules on a couple of online publications. Kristine Talk vs. text…

Every year, it seems more of my friends and family have turned to typing over talking. As much as I love technology, sometimes it is nice to just pick up the phone and hear a voice on the other end. I remember a time when it was easy to meet and chat with folks in an airport or restaurant – before we were all hooked up with our blackberries, iPhones, wireless laptops, etc. Don’t get me wrong – I am one of those people typing in public. Paul Atredy Work Rage

Just finished watching a video which has been recently circulating the net of a poor chap who totally lost it at work. The incident was caught by security cameras as well as filmed by co-workers. The guy went on a rampage, hurling equipment across the room, and breaking anything/everything on his path until he was stopped by security. Thankfully no one was severely hurt. I could not help but wonder what causes a person to “loose it” to such a degree. I think that in the world we live today thin… Continue

Paul Atredy IPhone 3G - Finally here???

I currently have a Treo 650 which I have been wanting to replace but had not yet found a device that could actually do as much and in the same fashion (except - of course - for another Treo). I wanted something different; something with a bigger screen, something that looked "cooler" and then I saw the IPhone.
