My Talent Network

A new home for casual career networking and advice.

This tutorial covers the Friends functionality found on My Talent Network.

Friends are Important for Networking
Here on My Talent Network we use the Friend functionality to 'connect' with each other and share advice about job seeking, career opportunities, or anything we feel might be noteworthy in the recruiting or job seeker arena.

Of course, the sharing found on My Talent Network isn't limited to professional items. We've seen relationships forged around topics related to dogs, sports, and anything you can imagine.

While we all have our own opinion around why we think we should network or 'connect' - the truth is that your My Talent Network connections just might surprise you. What started as, "Hey, I live in California, too!" could easily migrate to, "I see you're in Finance. My employer is looking for a new Department Head. Interested?"

Remember that we all have different reasons for both networking and hanging out on My Talent Network. Some people may just stop in from time to time while others can be found here daily. Don't be bothered if someone refuses your Friend request - remember that every network is different and each person has their own reasons for being here.

With all of this in mind, here are a few reasons to 'connect' as Friends.

  1. Your can private message Friends.
  2. You can limit access to the content you add, to just your Friends. This means that you can upload photos and videos that only your friends can see.

Let's get started...

My Friends The member you sent the Friend request to is sent an email notifying them of your request.

When they next login to their account they will find a notice on their page below their profile photo (see image).

On clicking this they will be shown details of your request and will have the opportunity to either Accept or Decline the request.

That's it. You'll now be connected when that person accepts your Friend request.
