My Talent Network

A new home for casual career networking and advice.

I am applying for a position where the salary is negotionable. This is the first time I've had to figure my worth in dollars and would like to know what tools on the web can assist with this question.

Salary.com is a good starting place - there is also a Salary Button on HotJobs in the Career Tools section (http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/salary - powered by Salary.com) that will tell you stats like the following based on job title and locations.

Here's how they do it, btw.

A starting point at least...

I don't feel bad for what I make now I guess. I just wish I could make it in less hours than I work. I am just in the middle for where I work. The median. There were lots of jobs I had to search through though.
Thanks RG. Got anymore?

I used to use salaryexpert.com but they make you fill out questions to get the data. It makes sense I guess but salary.com seems much easier.
Have you found anything else to use?

No, I sure have not. But I did play around with salary.com and have a decent range to go by. I am still searching and if I come across anything I will pass it on. Thanks everyone!

Paul - This information is EXCELLENT! The employmentsopt.com is invaluable and definitely helps me in "how to negotiate". The other links are very helpful in getting a salary range I can present after I get the job (wink). THANKS SO MUCH!!!
